The Background of Betty Scoops: Our Journey

Betty Scoops evolved from a lifetime career in the service industry and a desire to start a business.  In Dec 2024, the vision of operating an ice cream business began with the purchase of a trailer, which was transformed from an empty shell into a functional commercial mini mobile facility.

The trailer service window was opened to the public for the first time on May 31/ 2025, as an ice cream mobile service entity. Betty Scoops was ready to cater for private functions and on weekends, serve up scoops of happiness at the Markham Market.

When winter came, our operations moved indoors at the Markham market.  The indoor space was designed to reflect the trailer's image, using similar colors and a menu change. Inevitably, the menu expanded beyond ice cream and awesome desserts during winter.  The expansion included all-day breakfast omelettes, pancakes, egg and cheese on a muffin, bagels and more. Further, comfort foods such as hamburgers and hot dogs, soups, a variety of grilled cheeses, and other light grilled dishes were also added. The beverage lineup also stretched beyond milkshakes and floats to include handcrafted espresso beverages, juices, coladas, and mocktails.

Fortunately, we have been allowed to branch out into catering for private events and plan to continue as opportunities arise. We feel privileged to share joy with both the young and the older, as they experience the magic of Betty Scoops!
